Behold the Power of SEC
It should come as no surprise when I say that the best conference in college football (CFB) is the SEC.
I can hear what you are thinking, "no kidding dipshit, everyone knows that". What you may not have realized is that the top three teams in the BCS are all members of not just the SEC, but of just the SEC West. They boast one of the nations two remaining undefeated in LSU (Houston being the other) and the next two teams are one loss Alabama and Arkansas. A quick rundown of SEC teams and their records this year:Right now their are seven bowl eligible teams in the SEC, while Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Mississippi State still have a chance as long as they win their last game. Now here is where it gets really interesting, this Friday the day after Thanksgiving LSU and Arkansas take on one another in a battle of #1 vs #3.
There is much more on the line than just winning the West, if the winner of the West prevails in the the conference Championship game they have a free ticket punched to the BCS game in January. But if the winner of the East (lets say Georgia) wins the SEC championship it will throw the BCS into upheaval and fans of every conference into a tizzy.
It'll be like an internet holy war on ESPN message boards. You'll hear arguments that if a team doesn't win it's conference it shouldn't be allowed to play for the BCSNC (poppycock). The SEC fans will fire back that of course they deserve a representative in the title game as the only teams capable of beating their beloved speed demon teams are yet other SEC speed demon teams. This is where I come in. I can settle the argument that Oklahoma State caused by crapping all over the field last Friday night when they played Iowa State. To me it's fairly obvious that if LSU makes the SEC Championship and loses, they still deserve a shot over Alabama (who they beat) and Arkansas (who we are predicting they beat).
Their are other teams that may in fact believe they deserve a shot, but they would be foolish and incorrect. Oklahoma St. is out of the picture regardless of whether they beat Oklahoma or not, losing to Iowa St. is just too terrible of a loss to have on your resume and still play for the whole enchilada. Stanford's loss to Oregon was probably too much to overcome considering Oregon lost to one of the three SEC teams (LSU).
Which leaves us with only one real option, Virginia Tech. Provided they win out, and end up winning the ACC championship game against what will probably be a dangerous but ultimately beatable Clemson squad. So there you have it the BCS Championship game this year will be Virginia Tech vs one of the top three SEC teams. I think LSU will beat Arkansas this Friday and then win in the SEC championship game. Which would pit them against Virginia Tech, in a game I would suspect LSU would win somewhere in the vicinity of a thousand to nothing. Which is really the whole point of this article, any of those three SEC teams would hand whoever they played in the Championship game a world class beating. The only team that might be able to pull off losing is Arkansas, but even their odds of failure are slim at best.

No fear folks, if the BCS gives us a rematch of two SEC teams I'll first go ballistic throwing things at the TV. Then I will make a post ripping them all to shreds.
